LAST TANKER COMING HOME Our time in Australia has meant a great deal to us. The love and support that the locals have given us has been exceptional. We are tremendously grateful to have worked alongside such dedicated heroes.
However, on March 23 it was time for our last DC-10's to come home.
"Hello all from sunny Canberra, Australia..!
This morning we said farewell to Tanker (or as we know it Bomber) 912 - she is now winging her way back home to the US.
Gonna miss that orange tail dominating the skyline under the Control Tower - or the re-assuring sight of it simply being there as I drove past the Airport.
..and at the height of the Namadgi fires - when the front was only 10 or so kilometers from our house - hearing and seeing 912 fly over low and fast was a real comfort to all of the residents of the nearby suburbs.
Thanks so much for being here this year - hopefully Canberra turned on good hospitality for you all...
Have a safe flight back to base and maybe we'll see you again next Season.."
With fire season on its way, it’s a relatively busy time for 10 Tanker.
Tanker 911 is currently in San Bernardino receiving maintenance checks. As for Tankers 910, 912, & 914 they are in Albuquerque beginning preparations for fire season.
10 Tankers' work is an essential service to the public, and though these are difficult times, inevitable travel is a part of fulling that service. However, we are taking the best precautions we can take in order to keep our flight crews and mechanics safe. We hope everyone is staying safe, and thank you all for your love & support.
